About

I’m Danny Yencich and this is my blog.

Lately I’ve been feeling like I live in Babylon. The world in which we find ourselves is a pagan one — and its ways really don’t make much sense — but it’s the surrounding context within which we Christians serve, anyway. I look at what Jesus says when he tells us that to love God and neighbor is our highest call and greatest commandment and I just don’t know how to do it. What you’ve found here is a journal of my various attempts at fulfilling that commandment, with all manner of mess-ups, do-overs, and generous helpings of grace and peace to be found along the way.

Jaya Deva,

This is me.

  1. Dear Son,

You are gone now, and traveling via train on yor way to St. Louis…. A city where our roots all started, and you may not even realize it. But the very people you go to help hold a place in our blood, in our roots, in our lives, and it was God’s Grace and Love and Power that took our family from that setting many many many years ago, and now takes you back. You have in your very soul a love that will only be quenched by loving, I am certain. I relinquished (or gave you back?) to God many years ago, and today I did it again. You are my grown son, and I am so very proud of you. I love you, and will be here when you return, ready to learn from your learning.

    Love,
    mom
